Village Christmas tree

installation and lighting

On Saturday 1 December at 10.00, an intrepid group of five volunteers from the MCG, plus Bruce* from the church, gathered together to erect and decorate the village Christmas tree ready for the lighting ceremony in the evening.

The picture below is in fact from last years' event when the cold weather was compensated for by lovely winter blue skies. This year the volunteers worked through continuous rain, got absolutely drenched and narrowly avoided hypothermia!

*Bruce and his wife Kim are recent arrivals in the village and they have since joined the MCG. A very big welcome to them both.

Fortunately the rain held off in the evening for the lighting ceremony and Santa Claus didn't even get his beard wet!

Carols and musical accompaniment led up to the tree lighting, which was followed by Santa Claus with a big sack of presents for the children. Then many local residents and visitors enjoyed mince pies and mulled wine in St Bartholomews church.

Wishing you all a very merry Christmas and a healthy and happy New Year
