The Conservation Group
The Maresfield Conservation Group (MCG) was formed in 1991 by a small group of volunteers from the village. The formation of the Group was prompted by plans for a large waste disposal site at Budletts roundabout at the foot of School Hill along with other planning issues within the Parish. Major Graham Allt was elected Chairman at the first Annual General Meeting on 10 July 1991.

The Group has grown over the years, becoming involved in numerous village projects, such as floodlighting the church tower and the restoration of the Victorian street lights at the recreation ground, School Hill cemetery and on the church wall beside the lych gate.

MCG has a dedicated Footpaths Team who actively maintain the network of rights-of-way across the Parish, maintaining signposts and stiles and keeping the paths open for walkers. Regular 'Village clean-up Days' are organised in the Spring and Autumn.

The Group takes a close interest in planning proposals in Maresfield and engages with local individuals and groups and with the Parish and District Councils as appropriate.

MCG runs an annual competition for photos taken in Maresfield Parish. The best images are incorporated into the Maresfield Calendar for the following year.

Social events are held throughout the year including a Quiz Night and summer garden tea to raise funds for MCG projects and for local charities.
